Don't Change, Improve

We have spent a fair amount of time over the last week addressing questions about a high profile portfolio manager departure and what it means for the future. The reality is no one knows. However, for more than a decade we have established a well-documented process to address, assess, and act when circumstances change.

Having rigorous processes that have been tested over time helps us to act consistently, while others may react impulsively. It's at times like these that documented and understood policies can bring clarity to the decision-making process and structure. Well thought-out processes shouldn't preclude Committees from using their sound judgement, but instead should support the ability of Committees and fiduciaries to act quickly with the knowledge that process and methodology have been established.
